Dr. Naleppa's Career Path
Dr. Peggy Naleppa was the CEO and owner of Profiles Unlimited, a personal development company prior to advancing her healthcare career. This business gave her the foundation for developing and influencing others to advance their own personal and career opportunities. She began her healthcare career as Director of Neurosurgical Services at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She was elected President of the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and has held several leadership positions with the Maryland Hospital Association. Peggy has served as a senior executive at several hospitals in Maryland, and was a top rated CEO/President for a large regional healthcare system. Upon concluding her CEO career, the Peninsula Regional Health System was awarded (one of only four in Maryland) a Five- star rating the highest possible from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, only 9% of the hospitals in the US achieved this five-star rating. The System also received the Health Grades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, placing it in the top 5% of all hospitals in the Nation. The Medical Center is the recipient of over 150 national awards, including a top 100 hospital.
Education and Training
January 2020 UPDATE: Dr. Naleppa is back in the academic world- she is officially enrolled as a student at Duke University, Durham NC in the Medical Neuroscience program. While currently a speaker and student of the neurosciences, this graduate level course will ensure the teachings are science based and meet peer review standards.
Background :
Peggy, who is a registered nurse, holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph’s College; a Master of Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from the University of Maryland UC; an MBA with a concentration in medical services from Johns Hopkins University; and a Doctorate in Management with a concentration in organizational process management (engineering) from the University of Maryland UC. She has also been presented with a second Honorary Doctorate in Public Service from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Always striving for excellence, she is a graduate of the Rutgers University Leadership/Executive Coaching Program. This is an executive coach training program accredited through the International Coach Federation (ICF), the gold standard in coaching.
Personal Achievements and Recognitions
In 2017 and 2015, Peggy was recognized by the Baltimore-based Daily Record as a Most Influential Marylander. In 2016, 2014 and 2012, she was named one of Maryland’s Most Admired CEO’s by The Daily Record and was inducted into the “Circle of Leadership.” In 2015, 2013, as in 2011, Peggy was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women, also by The Daily Record, for her outstanding achievements and contributions to Maryland healthcare, and joined its elite “Circle of Excellence” as a three-time recipient.
In 2014, she was presented the American College of Healthcare Executives Maryland chapter Senior Leadership Regents Award for her lifetime contributions to healthcare. In 2017, Peggy was presented the Boy Scouts of America Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. She is also a past recipient of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Businesswoman of the Year Award and the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore James Barrett Community Leadership Award.
She was also honored in 2013 by the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with the establishment of the Peggy Naleppa Outstanding Citizenship Award to be presented annually to a deserving graduate of the program. In 2012, and 2014, she was selected by prestigious Becker’s Hospital Review as One of 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know.
